Listening is a great way of receiving gifts of wisdom, intelligence and inspiration, but we only hear. ~Anonymous
Next Wednesday, 3/14/18, GHS is planning a Day of Dialogue within the building. We believe it is important to provide safe opportunities to share and actively listen to one another. Other schools in the district will also be working with students around the ideas of Kindness and Action.
When we returned to school after February break I had each of my classes "circled up". We hold circles in our classrooms to foster a sense of community and equality. These can also be an important part of our restorative justice practice. During this circle time I took the opportunity to let students know that I care about each and every single one of them. Even on those tough days we all have to get through, I want to be sure my students know that. I hope they do. I hope my students have a trusted adult in the building they can reach out to for help, even if it's not me.
