I've uploaded a link to an MCAS Review slideshow on the Review Materials page.
For the next three weeks I am assigning homework that will require students to use these slides and fill in a study sheet on Google Docs.
Via Google Classroom, each student has their own copy of the Review document to fill in.
There are 4 main categories with a total of 47 slides!
Week #1- Layers of Earth to Galaxies - Due 3/31
Week #2- Organisms to Element vs Compound - Due 4/7
Week #3- States of Matter to Transportation - Due 4/14

Thanks to the Greenfield Education Foundation (GEF), I have three sets of review games for 8th Grade Academy students to use. As we approach MCAS testing, we are starting to use them in classes!
Ready to do some spring cleaning? Clean out your gently used clothes and shoes to donate!
8th Grade Academy ambassador to Project 351, Ella McDaniel, is working with the non-profit organization Cradles to Crayons.
From Ella, "Right now, we are working with the non-profit Cradles to Crayons, which helps children in low-income situations get the tools they need to learn, play, and thrive. They give young people clothes, shoes, toys, books, and other necessities for free with lots of help from volunteers. One of their main values is “quality = dignity,” and they make sure to provide outfits that the child will feel safe, warm, happy, and proud in.
There will be donation boxes set up at Greenfield High School. Starting 3/20 through 3/31 you can donate clothes and shoes, from newborn sizes to adult medium (make sure they look like kids clothes, though!) You can bring them in new or gently used - bring in your kids', your younger family members', or even your old clothes and shoes! We encourage you to tell your friends, family, workplace - everyone!
Massachusetts has a poverty problem - there are more than 305,000 children ages 12 and under that live in low-income situations. I hope to help out as many children as possible, and I can’t do it without YOUR HELP!"
