Simultaneously feeling like we have barely started AND we've been at this forever.

I'm sure there is some quirky word for that.

Anyway, I wanted to just put out a few updates. Thank you for all your support at home!

1) I'll be at the Green River Cleanup this Saturday. Usually there is a more formal recruitment of 8th grade volunteers. If anyone would like to join from 9-12 please email me.

2) Grading- I am going to be posting material and assignments in Google Classroom. Assignments will be "ungraded" but will still need to be completed and turned in. Grades will only be posted in PowerSchool. Most classwork assignments will be 10-15 points and assessments will be more like 25-30 points.

3) Notes- I have been worried how to make this work for everyone. I'm pleased to report that so far everyone is taking notes in a way that works for them. I have enjoyed introducing "doodle notes" and you can see me modeling it here for our seasons topic.

4) Lastly, Donors Choose- To go along with notes I often use a platform called Pear Deck. This makes plain, boring Google slides into something more interactive for students which boosts engagement. I have only used the free version in the past but today I tested out the premium features.

Woah.

Game changer.

I can see the names of each student and leave feedback in real time! It's a pricey paid feature and I launched a Donors Choose project to see if I could help funding it.

I used Remind to contact families a lot in the spring and plan to continue using it especially while we are learning at a distance.

Thankfully the GPS district has populated family contact information for us!!

In case anyone was not added, here are the links:

Since we're not in the GHS building yet, I wanted to give you a short virtual tour! The tables and stools are not in their usual spots and the walls are kind of bare, but you'll get the idea.
