We just wrapped up our last standard in our Earth and Space Science Unit! For our quiz tomorrow you should review:

Layers of the Earth

Continental Drift

Plate Tectonics

Plate Boundaries

Rock Cycle

Weathering and Erosion.

On my Zaption page I currently have two videos you can use for review!

I love the original version of this song by Simon and Garfunkel, but I had to share this parody video with you. Jeremy Hoffman is a PhD student at Oregon State University, and he thought music and humor would be the way to go when talking about rising global temperatures.

The state standard we're reviewing it asks us to look at the link between the rise in global temperatures and human activity. Instead of talking about all the gloom and doom, we're researching some technologies to help solve the problem: Energy efficiency in buildings, fuel efficient vehicles, mass transportation, reneweable energy sources and carbon capture and storage (CCS). I believe what we do makes a difference! What do you do to make a difference?

We had two great visitors speak with the 8th grade today; Mr. Carey, the associate principal from FCTS, and Julie Brigham-Grette from UMass.

I loved the video clip from Blue Man Group that Julie started her presentation with. There are no emergency exits on planet earth. What you do has to make a difference!

And the best take away I got was this quote:
