The countdown has begun! Hard to believe we've started reviewing for finals!

We reviewed material from 6th, 7th and 8th grade for MCAS testing, but for finals (beginning Thursday) we're only going to be covering material from this year.

Please use the videos and posts on the "Review Materials" page. I've included a link to the slideshow of review images!

I am in the process of taking two online courses around Mindfulness. One of these courses will be specific to educators and I am so looking forward to finding ways to incorporate mindfulness into my classroom. Next year we will be moving to block scheduling with 96 minute classes. I think students and I will greatly benefit from short breaks to calm and focus.

Here's a video showing guided practice of a quick body scan- an opportunity to notice and understand sensations in our body, but not necessarily try to "fix" anything.

Here is a poem by Jalāl ad-Dīn Rumi that depicts our emotions as they come and go from day to day.

The Guest House This being human is a guest house. Every morning a new arrival. A joy, a depression, a meanness, Some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor. Welcome and entertain them all! Even if they are a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture, Still, treat each guest honorably. He may be clearing you out for some new delight. The dark thought, the shame, the malice. Meet them at the door laughing and invite them in. Be grateful for whatever comes. Because each has been sent as a guide from beyond.
